BALLAD OF THE FARM

The following work was inspired by and created for a group exhibition that opened at the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art in David City, Nebraska on May 23, 2015. The show was a juried group exhibition, curated by James Jones. For this show, over 42 families nationwide loaned the museum over 300 hundred historic farm photographs. These photographs where then copied and lent to each of the eleven artists who participated in the show who then created new works for the exhibition.

FEEDING THE WORLD

Feeding the World is a series of different works that asks questions pertaining to personal and shared histories that relate to my experiences growing up within a farming community in the mid-west. Through this work I am contemplating contemporary farming practices that perpetuate the over-production and exploitation of humans, animals, and food and how different systems of growing food and eating are inlfuenced by propaganda, media, cultural, and tradition.
